The Director of Investigations, assigned to one of Pinkerton's enterprise clients, has high visibility with the client with direct responsibility for the effective operations and leadership of the client’s investigations through the Americas sites. The Director leads process refinement and implementation, cross-team/discipline collaboration, maintenance of internal and external stakeholder relationships, has a direct client relationship, and coordinates training/education on all new or updated policies/procedures. This position will have a hybrid work schedule (in office/remote).

Responsibilities

  • Represent Pinkerton’s core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
  • Complete the processes, analysis, and reporting related to a wide variety of investigations including, but not limited to Life Safety/Threat Management such as workplace violence, assault, harassment, stalking, domestic violence, missing personnel, etc.; asset protection; misconduct including alleged violations of certain client policies; and miscellaneous investigations involving trespassing, unauthorized access, vandalism, etc.
  • Investigate, research, and resolve internal and external issues related to various threats against workplace people and assets.
  • Produce high quality, timely, and tailored threat assessments for internal stakeholders while managing sensitive or confidential data.
  • Monitor all-source information to proactively identify and assess likelihood and severity of threats.
  • Monitor Persons of Interest who may pose a threat of violence to people or assets.
  • Conduct open-source social media searches; utilizing social media research, public record research and third-party databases to build leads.
  • Deliver analytical assessments in clear, succinct, and appropriately caveated products that project credibility, convey recommendations, and reinforce key messages.
  • Collaborate internally with cross functional groups such as legal, HR, business suppliers/partners, etc., to enhance processes, workflows, tools, and system functionality.
  • Conduct business case analysis and both write and use business cases to effectively facilitate planning goals.
  • Develop measurable key performance indicators and deliver status reports, business metrics, and business plans.
  • Provide security resources to augment client's existing security resources upon request for security assisted termination, workplace violence, and emergency or short-term needs.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with law enforcement partners, encourage the on-going review of the client's investigations, and assist in bringing investigations to successful conclusions.
  • Formulate training policies, programs, and schedules based on knowledge of identified training needs and coordinate training activities with minimal impact to investigation staff’s duties.
  • Manage intake and assigning of cases through the client tool.
  • Act as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, procedures and systems. 
  • Provide guidance for team by ensuring goals and objectives are met.
  • Provide assistance with procedural review, analysis, and development.
  • Provide the client’s Investigations with requested information/data in support reports.
  • Explore and adopt changing technology in preparedness for and to accommodate evolving company needs. 
  • Assist the Global Account Director on projects/assignments as needed.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field and/or formal corporate, government, military, or law enforcement investigation and threat assessment training (a combination of formal education and experience in government or corporate protective intelligence/threat assessment programs will be considered). Experience in leading Investigations and leading a team.

  • Industry relevant certifications preferred, including CTM, CPP, PCI, PSP, etc.
  • Extensive experience in a leadership role in a high risk and liability, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Extensive experience using quality assurance techniques and strategies to monitor team performance, and compliance with contractually set Service Level Agreements.
  • Knowledge of training techniques suitable for different learning styles.
  • Computer investigation skills including knowledge of internet crime investigation processes and use of related databases.
  • Experience with software, databases, social media platforms, and heat/target mapping required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analyzing publicly available information from a deep web and dark web perspective, preferred.
  • Familiarity utilizing open source and proprietary applications, preferred.
  • Able to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
